Hi everyone!

I've not ridden a horse in years so spend my time down the yard in trackies or jeans. However my other half has suggested we go on a hack at a riding centre when we go away at the end of August and I'd love to at least look half decent.

I've seen Derby House have an offer on their denim breeches but I'm thoroughly confused by the size I'd need? There is no guide for breeches on their website and a quick search on here has left me none the wiser!

The biggest size in the offer is 32. 32 what?
I've measured my waist and it's 35 inches. I wear size 12 jeans and I'm roughly 5'4. If anyone can shed some light on my sizing confusion that would be great!

Thanks in advance!

I'm 5'3", am roughly a size 14 going on 16 (OK so I admit it:)) and take a size 32" which usually fits. The 32" refers to the waist size I think. I really don't know what my waist size is (daren't do it!) but I'm just under 10 stone on the scales. So hope this info helps.

Bear in mind that denim breeches may be a bit tighter than other materials. And certainly will need a bit of wearing in before they're really comfy.

Personally I'd always prefer to pay a bit more but be able to try on breeches/jods before buying, simply because even within a definate brand name there's so much variance - and you need to know what sort of cuts might suit you best. For example, I've always found Harry Hall or Caldene fit me well and I'd probably buy on-line as I know most of their stuff will fit, whereas I'd be very unsure of a brand name I hadn't tried before.

Its just about being comfy really.

I went up 2 sizes for DH denim breeches. Fab breeches, but just on the small size - their other jodhs & breeches are true to size, I'd say.

If that helps at all?!

I'm 5'5", size 10-12 and wear a 28" in all brands but derby house - I've only bought a few breeches from them in the past but found the sizing to be quite small, so would agree with NPL & recommend going up a size if you go the DH route.

I'd always go and try them on in a shop if you have any near you - lots of brands have different sizing but ALWAYS go for a cotton/elastane mix in my opinion! :)
The synthetics aren't very breathable and truly awful to wash!
Hope this helps x

Thanks to everyone for replying, these breeches are cheap and really I don't plan on getting back into riding so don't want to spend much at all. Think I'll take a gamble and go for the 32 as they're denim ones x
