After letting my Welsh D stretch on a long rein, when I take them up again and ask her come back into an outline she ALWAYS jogs a few steps. Que we always lose marks in dressage tests.

I think it might partly be I put my leg on to ask her for an outline, so I tried keeping my leg on during the stretch but then she goes really fast..Tried doing it really slowly but she hollows til I put my leg on, then jogs..Tried just doing it loads..That hasn't worked. I'm not keen on just halting her as she's a rearer so if I make her stand every like 2 steps or something to stop her jogging she might go up.

Any ideas please? Thanks

Could it be that when you gather your reins up, there's a moment when you're so preoccupied with picking them up, perhaps leaning forward slightly, that you don't follow the walk?
That would make her jog a bit, especially if you do lean forward a little, and she is going forward.
As an exercise, in halt, get a friend to hold the reins and pretend to be your Welshie...and have her move the reins back and forwards while you give and retake - she'll feel any momentary tension and be able to then b*ll*ck you appropriately.

When you're schooling just do it again and again and again until you're both sick of it.

Agree. Repetition and reward when he does it right. As soon as he does it right, go and do something else.

Good idea Shilasdair! I'll give that a go!

Boss - the thing is, if I keep redoing it, she just gets tenser and worse...I tried it before thinking she's anticipating going faster after I gather my reins but seems to tizz her up. She's so fizzy!

Or perhaps try left or right flexion if you can manage it just after the transition (subtly though).
This may sound odd (don't I always?) but try sinking down into the saddle and breathing out as you gather the reins.

I have this problem also, so look forward to ideas, however, I think it is just that she is anticipating asking for a contact, and therefore evading? Any help would be great. Sorry for hijacking your advice Ahrena!

Scratch the side (way from the judge!) of her wither/neck gently as you take the reins up. Makes you more aware of what you are doing with your hands, and can help them relax. Was sceptical when my trainer told me until I tried it, and it worked!!
