Which vets practice do you prefer to use? Just interested as I've heard good things about John Brook and recently there have been a few dodgy happenings with Bell and partners.

I've not used either personally but it was Bell and Partners that treated my friends mare for her shoulder puncture wound. The vet came out every day for the first week. Every other day the second week and rang on the days she didn't come out. Couldn't fault the care that Rosie had

What dodgy happenings have you heard of? PM if you prefer

I use john brook and I won't be going back...NOT HAPPY at all

My mare went lame so I called john brook and out came a female vet looked over the mare did a few things here and there and steped back and said triumphantly

" well she is lame on her front near" I thought tell me something I don't know...I know she is lame on her front for thats why I called, I wanted a diagnosis..basically she said she didn't know why she was lame so put her on bute and told to leave her on field rest.

so I did as I was told....3 months later my mare is no better they insisted on doing nerve blocks and xrays which I refused as my mare won't box and they refused to treat her on site.

as it turns out my horse had LAMINITIS.....bloody field rest indeed no wonder she was not getting better.

I diagnosed and treated her my self and she came sound in 10 days....

Sorry don't rate John Brook at all load of crap!!! there is a good equine vet in TTowster ...I shall be using them from now on...

I`ve used both and have been happy with both but its been for more routine things such as injections/blood tests etc so not really seen how they are with anything else *touches wood frantically*

Basically one of the vets came to passport some colts and agreed that they were all around the 6 month mark apart from one who seemed to be about 8 months. The colt who was said to be 8 months was then sold on and at the new place the same vet went out and said he was 4 years old!! Got a different vet to have a look and also confirmed that he was 4 but very very immature as he had been on poor grazing and hadn't filled out properly. The original vet from Bell and partners then claimed that they'd never been to our yard before to passport colts, this was only when a complaint was made!?! Also turns out that my colt was only about 3 months.

We've used John Brook (from Spring Paddocks) quite happily on and off over the last few years, in fact he was very helpful when my horse went lame, firstly with suspensory ligament problems, then arthritis. We tend to use him or Chine House vets now

Have used Brooks, but NOT Bells!!!!

I use Corner House, better practice, nicer vets, and nothing too much trouble for them. They also seem to be on the ball!!!

I have just changed from John brook's to Sandy Bell and I am very impressed. John Brook's practice made far too many mistakes.

Have just been looking through the John Brook bills and see he sent a bill for treatement to a pony last November. The pony has been dead for more than five years!!! Going through the bills with a fine tooth comb now.
