However, we have cases like this in the UK all the time and this forum is full of posts from people who feel powerless. As we have seen recently, the culrpits are never to blame.

We are all being asked not to breed irresponsibly. I don't breed more foals than I can afford to run on, currently I have two three year olds who will not be sold until backed.

I breed 'rare breeds', only 500 pure bred Clevelands in the world and only 5,000 Shagya. Breeders like myself should breed more, not less, but the actions of the 'pile it high and sell it cheap' have a detrimental effect on our rare breed stud books.
 
Quite a few horses HAVE been removed from the stud in Posadowo and are recovering in adopted homes, admittedly wheels are coming off a bit the rescue wagon, but the horses are safe. I'm not quite sure that buying the bloke's horses is the way forward, really.
There were many, many people pledging help, but when it came to putting hands in their pockets, somehow they kept mysteriously disappearing when it turned out, you can't get a free horse and then sell it on...
