Seems to be the only saddle that fits my horse! I have one on loan but it's not in very good condition ..... are there any others on sale out there? Internet searches have drawn a blank. I need a 6x, 17.5" preferably in brown. Budget isn't huge but as these saddles are apparently getting on for 20 years old, I wasn't sure that would be an issue?

If not this, does anyone know of similar treed saddles that might be a suitable alternative? High and broad withered horse!

Thanks!

Have you had a consultation with a Balance TRF? Have a look at the Balance International website. I have a 7X Hamilton in black but I would be quite loathe to part with it.

No, I haven't. My horse was in a Lavinia Mitchell saddle but it no longer fits, as an interim I have borrowed a JH Balance GP/J. I haven't used a Balance saddle before but definitely can't afford a new one. :(

It still might be worth having a session - there are always few second hand ones floating about, and if you know which models your horse likes you might end up with a bit more choice. They have a couple of less expensive makes now too.

I have this exact saddle - unfortunately I'm still using it. I believe the John Hamilton x6 is the equivelant of the x8 Frank Baines saddles. Where do you live as my saddle normally has some of the older styles in. I've also seen the Hamiltons on ebay.

There is a Hamilton GPJ 6X 17.5" on Lavinia's website at the moment. It is black though....

I have a Joni Bentley saddle that sounds like it might fit the bill. There is a brown one for sale on Ebay at the moment. They are adjustable and mine will go as wide (if not wider) than my FB 8X Balance saddle. It depends on whether you are willing to take the risk by buying something untried though.
