....... has decided to sue Ch4 for £3million, for ageism. Had they sacked him for his displays of vulgarity, they'd have been on much safer ground!

Strangely, when the public were asked who they thought was the face of racing, McCririck was the man. As others, the loss of Downe and Francombe, one volunteered, the other didn't, was a great shame, but we'll have to see what the future holds.

Alec.

Is it a first for H&H to include the word 'arse' in a report?

Quote from their article
“More popular presenters have gone than you McCririck, maybe it’s your opinions that got you the sack. Ageism my arse,” said one.

I've never understood why he seems to upset so many people. He does a huge amount for racing welfare. His Big Brother prize money went to various racing charities and he and his wife are Trustees of Greatwood Racehorse Rehoming.

He's a colourful character (and don't we need one with Channel 4 Racing now being presented by wooden dummies), well educated, deeply knowledgeable and articulate, though evidently a bit outspoken for some of you. He's passionate about his racing and the wellbeing of the horses and people involved in the industry. He's quite easy to listen to and for me, anyway, has make the betting side much more understandable (something Gary Wiltshire and his equally large friend on BBC failed to do...... I just turned the sound down when they were on). He and Tanya made a great pairing.

I was very sorry to see him go.

However, I think this unfair dismissal claim is bonkers and will do him no good at all, will never succeed and is likely only to cause further embarrassment to racing.

I actually met the man and went off him even more than I had when he was on tv. other than that the claim is as has already been said totally bonkers as it was a change of presenters and he was not the only one to go. even though I am not a fan of the new presentation at least they may improve with time whereas he will not

Interesting listening to him on radio 2 today.

Particularly liked the lady who phoned in with an old quote from him (along the lines of..) "Older ladies on the telly should be replaced with younger ones as they are nicer to look at".

Not so sure now the boot is on the other foot, is he!

I agree with all the above and have met him a few times in person both as a racegoer and when working in racing and I always found him to be a gentleman.
I also knew Gary Wiltshire too before he did the TV appearances when he was a bookmaker at Uttoxeter racecourse, again a nice fella.
My own memories of John Parrot though was in the press room discussing the benefits of eating a white meat diet vs red meat.
Indeed some strange conversations in racing including one between myself and Richard Pitman about ferrets, rabbits and ferreting. I think the topic made him chuckle as most press rooms I have found to be rather dull for conversation topics!

My only disagreement is with his unfair dismissal claim and I think other presenters such as Alastair Down should have done the same. I wholeheartedly support his claim and I hope he is successful.
So far what is left of the Ch4 team (including the newbies) is dull, lifeless and to be honest rather wooden.
There is a lack of humour, charisma and the little things that for me made Ch4 above anyone else when it came to racing broadcasts.
The show needs some charisma, knowledge and a 'people' person. If they are not going to reconsider former contracts then for goodness sake give Matt Chapman a spin on Ch4!

Personally I can't stand the guy but he was good at his job - even if he was a sexist pig for the most part. He has done a lot for charities and for that I respect him.

It's the art of tic tac being lost that upsets me most. My dad has always taught my brother and me what all the gestures mean, since we were children.

My OH is a bookie and even he doesn't understand half of them. I know that betting has moved on and Tanya already covers the online exchanges etc really well, and everything these days is electric boards and printed tickets telling you your exact winnings. Perhaps tic tac is a thing of the past. But I'm going to miss it, and I'm going to miss him. I met him at Cheltenham probably ten years ago and thought he was a wonderful man. And I actually quite liked it when he turned on the absolute arses who crowd around him ringing their friends and waving 'look at me on the telly'. Someone needed to tell them to grow up!

Cannot bear him, never could but the loss of John Francome is just tragic and I used to love Alistair Downs compilation pieces.

I think its simply a sign of the times. In my place, whether you are a genius or not, if you shout at people who express a different opinion to yours, or a rude to people at work (whether accepted by the recepient or not), you will loose your job. Simple as that.

I heard him on Radio Two yesterday lunchtime and I thought his behaviour was ridiculous. He did every thing he could to shout down Barbara Want. Fashions change and his style of bullying people into submission is no longer acceptable.

If he's such a good egg, Im sure this wont affect his Charitable work. Lets not forget there have been many other Charitable people in the news recently who garnered sympathy and tolerance for thier Charity work, when in hindsight they should have been fired from a long range cannon many years ago.

I'm glad he's gone. I only wish he'd take The Jeremy Kyle show with him. I'm sick of seeing people behave like animals for entertainments sake.

He is the only person on any programme that I have written in and complained about. He's a xenophobic, misongynistic bigot, and I am glad to see the back of him.

It's just irritating he's still on ATR.

Trouble is Fat Mac has changed his tune on so many issues over the years that its hard to know what he stands for, except his own self importance. I still have not got over the tales of his sexual preferences which he shared to the nation on CBB. Per-lease, too much information. No-one wants to think of him "on the job". Yuk yuk yuk. Pleased to see the back of him.

Well I got through my ironing extra fast this morning, can not stand the new format or the people on it, thought MF would liven it up but a sorry no and I left to do my horses early as I couldn't stand it anymore. But Big Mack just had to go, he should have gone years ago.:p:mad::p
