John Muir Country Park - Beach rides? Any info?

We are hoping to have a day at the beach with the horses soon and we're looking for options! We went to John Muir CP many years ago and I'm looking for suggestions as to whether it's a good option or would there be anywhere else you'd suggest. We're coming from south of Edinburgh so if it can fairly easily reached from there so much the better! Any advice on parking etc would be appreciated! Ta

I used to live there years ago and it was fab for riding on.
Not sure if you need permits etc now but parking wasn't a bother either

yelloecraigs is good easy to get to from edin and has parking, as is dunbar but you have to watch out for the lamas as they can be a bit of an issue!!!

You do need a permit to ride at John Muir but they're easily obtained from East Lothian Council - just google them. Parking is now a bit tight as they've put a barrier up that doesn't allow high vehicles into the main carpark, but there's usually enough room if you don't go at weekends. Remember to check the tide tables!
