Just wondering if anyone on here has the condition who rides and how they cope!?
I have it myself and in general riding it doesn't really affect me. On the yard I can struggle moving hay bales and generally mucking out unless I wear my wrist brace, But recently jumping my ankles have not been able to take the strain and have been 'collapsing' meaning I haven't been able to take part in my jumping lessons :(
So just wondering if anyone else suffers from the condition and if they have any tips on how to manage it! =D

I have HMS and although I hate to admit it, I really do struggle!

Riding is agony, particularly through my knees, so rising trot, spooks, bucks, any sudden change in speed or direction makes me nearly pass out. My lower back is also really bad, as is my ankle, which I broke when my knee gave way again.
I also have nerve damage in one hand due to ulna nerve entrapment in my elbow, so my grip is much weaker, and I cant feel properly the reins in that hand.

I also struggle with horsey chores - some days, if my shoulder has subluxed, I cant lift my arm to put on a head collar, bridle, rug etc.
Mucking out agravates my back and elbows.

Having said all that, I wouldnt give up on our horses - they are the reason I drag myself out of bed on a bad day!

It does mean though, that I have recently had to sell my fun little pony, who could be a bit over bouncy at times, and I am now looking for something I can just quietly plod about on.

Feel free to pm me if you want to know anything else, or want to moan about the frustration that goes with HMS! :)
