Trying not to think about the worst case senerio, but cant help it. Had a look online but cant find much about success stories. Would be really helpful to hear your experiences (good or bad)
I thought William (henryhorn's foal) had one on top of his mystery illness which they finally unravelled. He's doing fine.
Now, snap out of this.
Jerry will be OK.
Our pony had a big hind leg and was lame - he's an over-reacter in all ways. His pastern was massive. Bute, bandaging and a week in his box and he has been fine. The hole may be purely co-incidental and the treatment a belt-and-braces affair. You will wear yourself out with the worry. Go and busy yourself with overdue horsey jobs and the time will fly. Plus when you remember to look at his leg, it will be thin again.
Please be positive. I know it's hard. I am physically and emotionally exhausted after dealing with crisis after crisis here with ours, all of which were time-consuming but non-fatal!
I'll parcel up some more <<<<<vibes>>>>> and a couple of (((((hugs))))) and politely ask you to refrain from Googling joint infections!
yeah my mare had a joint infection in 2001 form a kick to hock was operated on made a full recovery form it. Nearly did same thing 4yrs later only by some miricale missed this time.
i known a pony recently survived and it was on it's way to kennels and owner decided to leave the decision till morning and in morning pony, gave them sign to hold off their decision.......
pony is now sound and an awesome jumping machine......... as before
my friends young event horse was schooling one day and dragged his hind up a set of steps, thinking it was just a rub she took him home and 24 hours later saw him in the field 3 legged!!! Joint capsule infection was diagnosed in front of hock and the offending material was removed!hes now doing eventing, bsja and also so sound competing at elementary level dressageand has no prob working medium at home, he has slighty larger hock but other than that he is fine and sound, he was a very serious case at the time, by nature of where the offending material was located, but hes most deffo a success :story!!!
