Can anyone help please :) ... I'm looking for a joint supplement that wont upset a sensitive tummy, does anyone know of anything? There are so many products out there I don't know where to start!

I've got a border collie who is 13 and has been doing really well on Glucosamine and a fish oil for years, but he is getting quite stiff some days. Being a collie, you can imagine he is still very active and hyperactive, and although his fell running and fly ball days are over :) we want to keep him active as much as we can , so I've been thinking of giving him something else to support his joints.

However, he has a very sensitive stomach, and had some episodes of chronic gastritis over the years and tummy ulcers. Last year he had pancreatitis and when we nearly lost him. He recovered well, and although we have always managed his diet strictly we have to be even more careful now.

Any suggestions would be great, thanks! :)

Would you not consider trying a NSAID from the vet?

My boy has a very sensitive tummy - Rimadyl and Metacalm made him ill but he's doing pretty well on previcox and/or tramadol for those days when his tummy is a bit more sensitive.

My stafford boy is on the JD mobility food from my vets, he has elbow displaysia and none of the previously mentioned drugs or injections helped. This food works for him and he is sound. Been on it for 2 years and the vet is very happy with him and he has been able to avoid the operation thus far. He is also a fussy eater but my vet told me this was very palatable. Might be worth asking for a sample?

Best joint supplement there is .... SYNOQUIN.

Excellent.. doesn't upset a sensitive tummy and gives excellent results after 6 weeks loading period. Can be used in conjunction with NSAIDS.

Ask your vet... but don't be tempted by cheaper alternatives as I have read the data and the cheapies just don't work.

Thanks everyone, thats really helpul, I will look into them. We do have some tramadol that the vet gave us and he seems to be doing ok. Thanks again!
