I havent used it myself but apparently its good stuff. My boy has joint problems, i have him on superflex, the five star 1 and he seems to be doing well on that, cortaflex is great but pricey for me right now. Let me know how u get on with it though

Cairo is on cortaflex but I also now feed Instant Linseed. He is so much more flexible and full of himself - linseed has good amounts of omega 3, 6 and 9 fatty acids and is known for its anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant effects.

I am considering taking him off cortaflex and seeing how he does just on the linseed - far cheaper too.

I had my mare on Cortaflex for a couple of months and have now put her on Joint Right Supreme instead. JRS was delivered quickly and is slightly cheaper than Cortaflex. Haven't noticed any difference with either really but we are only on the walk part of rehabilitation from a tendon injury. Her back legs still creak slightly (as they have done for all the 7 years I've had her) but she has been recently standing on 3 legs scratching the inside of her back legs with her teeth which is quite funny to watch ! Hopefully the follow up ultrasound in Feb will show good healing though.

you can get linseed to make yourself from feed merchants. make up quantities like sugar beet but add boiling water and leave to steam itself. 1 handful a day and make enough for 3 days so not much. 1 sack costs £14.00 and will last prob a year

One of my cobs has been on it for about a year due to ringbone but tbh we have found no difference and have just started on Joint Aid. The ringbone isn't in the joint and the vet has said that the boney spurs are probably causing her the most problems but he said to carry on with a supplement anyway.

You can if you want from Gold Label or Simple Systems. I have used Gold Label which I actually went and got from my feed merchant.

I get mine now from Simple Systems as the boys are on their feeds and have never looked better. They have the total eclipse which is seaweed, linseed and brewers yeast and I then add a little extra linseed to give Chancer a show coat and Cairo for his joints.

The old boy really now seems to enjoy being ridden and Saturday I schooled him for 45 mins - he normally has enough after 20. Little shoulder in, leg yields and best of all, he now does not paddle on the back end in canter.

He also spins on the spot so he can "get" Stinker when playing - his old owner is very impressed with the way he now moves.

Thanks everyone for your advice, think i might give the linseed ago and see how he gets on. If i get a sack of it how do i go about cooking it and do i give him the seed and the juice or just the juice that comes off it? Sorry haven't used it before, thanks

If you get a sack then get a small pot about the size of the small extra flex tubs or similar and put a small amount (about 2 10ths) and pour BOILING water on it and put the lid on and leave 24 hours. the linseed will go gloopy and will probably have water sitting on top, just mix it all in and feed roughly a handful a day. you can make it thicker or thinner like you can with sugarbeet. it will put weight on and make hossy lovely and shiny and do his joints good too. I use it and its great stuff for my horse, just dont forget to make sure the water is boiling when you pour it in. good luck

i have been on cortaflex and now on superflex and im not honestly sure if i can tell the difference.

other good things are linseed, msm, cider vinegar, cod liver oil. and all cheaper!

but to be honest i do think cortaflex is the best. but expensive. you can buy it online slightly cheaper than in the shops
