Good morning all
My 17yo cob has been diagnosed with a spavin in his low hock joint. Although only diagnosed this week, the joint is almost completely fused, with little new osteogenic activity. Coffin, fetlock, pastern, upper hock and stifle (joints) were all perfectly clear, no calcifications.
So the vet has recommended shoes with short toes and wedges behind and NB shoes in front. Pasture rest for 4 weeks then reassess before we start introducing ridden work again.
My question is, what are the recommended supplements for hock (or joints in general) arthritis these days? I'm in France and the feed supplements are about 20 years behind the UK!
I was thinking of 99% glucosamine plus MSM, would that be right, or am I missing something?
Many thanks for any help/advice
