I am thinking of giving the girls a joint supplement they are 9 and 10 and half now.
What have people used ? did you see any difference ? any thoughts or experiences greatly received .

Recommend Yumove. My collie has been on it a year now. He used to get very stiff after a lie down, and when getting up he would yelp. Took about 3-4 weeks until I saw any difference, but he hasn't done it since and he is a lot springier when out walking. He is 12.5 years old now and apart from being blind he still runs about like a lunatic. They have an advance version out now too, which I will be moving on to.

Mine have had Yumove, Synoquin, Ease-Flex and Flexadin - I swap depending on what works out cheapest at the time, I compare work discount price with online/bulk offers.

I am not convinced that any of them have any effect if I'm honest, the research is pretty patchy with many studies suggesting that there is no benefit at all. I am still paranoid enough to hedge my bets. :o I work my dogs hard in high-impact sports and one has had an injury/surgery that pretty much guarantees earlier OA.

Hmmm... the research is so wide-ranging and whilst vets do seem to think they *may* have a therapeutic effect, it's not enough for me to spend money on some ground up shells.

If the animal is prone to OA then there isn't much you can do but give a diet high in minerals and vitamins and suggest good sources of omega oils. When it gets bad, anti-infammatories is proven time and time again to be the most effective course of action.

You can always try natural sources of AIs... turmeric, boswellia....

Mine is on cosequin, but I'm not that convinced. I used to use NAF Relief for my old girl, but they don't sell it any more. I DID see a difference with that.

I have been hearing that Tumeric is supposed to be really good. I would be interested in people's thoughts on that?

I have a big WB who had 1/10 lameness in front, we assume from doing too much too young, and it was chronic - until two months into turmeric therapy (turmeric has to be fed with oil and freshly ground black pepper to be absorbed). It seemed to be a waste of time until it suddenly made a difference after several weeks. It hasn't helped my veteran mare who is stiff through her SI joint though so it seems it doesn't suit all individuals. Worth a try, but as an anti inflammatory, not a preventative. Not sure how it works in dogs but can't see any reason why it doesn't.
