Afternoon all,

I'm not sure if its just me but the market for joint supplements is an absolute minefield. So many products out there at incredibly differing prices.
What do you use and what for?

Unless you absolutely need it, don't waste your money. Very few studies have shown any remarkable effect and will only make a difference if there's a problem.

I'm also uncomfortable with how some are processed and were some come from.... shark fins!!! Ugh.

If you've got good quality minerals and vitamins with good protein source, the body heals cartilage anyway. Collagen is after all protein and it's made from essential amino acids. So.......... joint supplements for myself or animals is very much questionable.

For humans, you're just as well to stop eating sugar as that has a better effect on your joints than any supplement ever will.

I do agree, I already feed micronised linseed and spirulina on TB chaff and that does my mare enough I think as she looks very well on it.

Mine are on this after a recommendation on here https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/274099442117

It’s reasonably priced and seems to be working. I have 4 veterans who are prone to stiffness, especially with this weather and it’s definitely helping with that.
I already purchase chamomile flowers and rosehips from this company on their websiite! Very good quality.
I'll look into this supplement.

My mare is now 19, and whilst most trainers and professionals think she is around 10/12 on first impression and isn't showing any signs of aging I do feel she needs something else than linseed and spirulina.

I wanted Boswellia included as I’ve found it works as a pain relief. There’s quite a few different blends on there so hopefully something to suit.

I've never use boswellia before so I'll have to look into that too.
I need to make sure its competition legal as she still competes BD

I am using Sizarol on the recommendation of the vet, and also tumeric. I think like most people I have no idea if they work or not.

For the dog I use synoquin, which I think is basically the same as sizarol (glucosamine). In humans glucosamine has never been proved to work so far as I am aware, but I take the view that as long as it causes no harm I might as well give it.

Regarding the tumeric I did notice that my old mare who had always had slightly puffy legs lost the puffiness shortly after starting on it, but of course that is hardly proof as there are many other factors (at the same time I started using the incrediwear socks, so who knows). My only reason for thinking that it is the tumeric is that I am not using the socks at the moment as she always has wet legs at night from washing the mud off, but her puffy legs have not returned.

Honestly I think that however much we might swear by a product the reality is that we never know.
