My pony is coming up for 16. Ive had him almost 3 yrs. in that time he's been a happy hacker (fast!) and jumped a tiny bit. Previously he was pony clubbed and was really active. I look upon it that he is semi retired!! Anyhow, only ever once before I noticed he was lame when i was lunging him, about a year ago. Last week when I was riding home, after quite a lot of trotting, he felt everso slightly "different" trotting up hill. When I got home I noticed a bit of heat in a hind hoof. The farrier came today and said he's a little stiff but nothing else was wrong. The heat has gone also. It seems to be a very intermittent thing. I have the vet coming on the 7th for jabs so will mention it.

I just wonder if I should start a joint supplement? If there is slight stiffness there maybe it's the start of something. Or maybe it's just a cold weather thing. And what are the most effective supplements for mild stiffness? I don't jump him anymore as he finds it way too exciting and I'm not the most confident jumper anyway, so he really is a happy hacker, who lives out 24/7.

Micronised linseed. It contains the omega oils and has the magic of Dr Green without the unpredictable sugar. Plus you only need to feed it in winter.
