I rather fancy buying my horse (who lives with my grandaughter) a jolly ball for Christmas. Has anyone got/had one? Do horses play with them (mine's only 5 and very inquisitive) and do they last or break in no time?
Thanks

I have had my Jolly Ball for about 5-6 years, they are super strong, they are designed do they cant be popped, mine has been stood on, kicked, squashed you name it and its perfectly fine. my new forest used to kick it around the field and now my 15.2hh has it in his field and he sometimes plays with it although he is rather lazy when not being ridden!

I have had mine for over 7 years, and all my horses hated it....well perhaps that is a little strong..... it wasn't food orientated so what is the point. It is now sitting redundant in my tackroom

Ditto. None of mine have been bothered with it. They very quickly realised it wasn't a clicker target and it didn't have food in it so what's the point? The only time its been picked up is to be chucked out of the stable in disgust lol!

I'd highly recommend a snackball though - both my boys love theirs :). They don't get any extra in it, just part of their normal ration. My boy gets some of his high fibre cubes in it and fatty share pony gets his lo-cal in his.

My mare had a snak a ball (it lasted 5 years before breaking).

She now has a Rock n Roller and a decahedron and she adores them, as 1 will have pony nuts in, the other chopped carrot, apple or a handful of herbal treats.

She's not at all interested in the jollyball I got her as there was no food to be had, so I gave it to a friend, who's horse isn't bothered with it either....

Agree with the majority. I bought mine for my cribbing youngster, thinking it would give her something to get her teeth around (maybe instead of the automatic waterer ). She bit it a few times the first day and now just kicks it when it's in her way. She's not interested. Mind you she wasn't in the least bit interested in her likit either. She is clearly above such frivolity :p

Yup :D Except daughters dog adopted ours and can't live without it.

Mine loves his jolly ball - he is 5 also. He plays with it in his stable! He also loves the snack balls but as he is so aggressive with getting the treats out, he tends to make himself lame by smashing at them. Oh and he's a strapping pure ID and a good 16.3 and he hasn't broken the jolly ball!

I bought one for my foal and he did pick it up a few times but soon seemed to get bored of it, might have a go in the field tomorrow though now you've reminded me about it as he was bored and terrorising mum today!

None of our horses liked it,ranging from the stallion to youngsters, and naughty little dartmoor ponies!!
The only purpose it serves is for my 3 year old son to kick about the yard!!!

My horses thought the jolly ball was pointless. They prefer treat balls.

Dog thinks jolly ball brilliant and has chewed off the handle.
