Joshua Jones put two straps on their boots, a top one, and one across the front of the ankle. What is the ankle one for? Does it serve a purpose? Example in link

It looks like it’s a version of a spur/field boot lace guard but the buckle would interfere with the fit of the spur and could actually cause injury to your ankle in a fall, or worse, get stuck on your stirrup. Stupid hybrid riding/fashion boot.

I think inspiration has been taken from some polo boots. JJ and many other higher end manufacturers have been making boots in this style for donkeys...

I ride in the Paulo most days, you can have this boot made with or without the bottom strap, it's mainly for pretty purposes... But, it's a really comfortable boot, the strap doesn't interfere in any way, I wear spurs with them all the time.

A very common style in dressage boots these days - I assume mainly for aesthetics taking inspiration from polo boots. I have donadeo dressage boots and prefer mine without the extra buckles and/or laces - I think it is much sleeker but it's totally just personal preference!
