I just wanted to sure with you my day yesterday. I finally plucked up the courage to take my horse to a dressage competition by myself and travel the trailer all alone without my OH who was busy combining. My lad didnt put a foot wrong even when my half chap zip broke halfway through my first test and slid down my leg! I was overjoy as we have finally broken the 60% barrier and got 62% (its taken all season). But now there is a pain as my back seems to have be paying the consequences. My lower back aches and if I sit down for long periods of time, I stuffen up. Please can anyone offer advice or just send some vibes down the forum!

yay for a good day and I recommend volatrol gel for the back ache.

Get yourself to a chiropractor asap - mine works wonders on my back. And get ice on it - peopel think they should use heat, but ice is better as normally back pain is due to inflamation of something and you need to reduce the swelling.

You need to get yourself some treatment but in the meantime wet ice your back.

Get a towel and wet it - wring out loosley.

Take ice cubes and crush them lightly. Place ice in the middle of the towel and fold the towel over to hold ice in.

Lie on the floor with a pillow under your lower stomach/ hips for support and another under your shins. Apply the ice towel to your back and leave for 30 minutes -your skin will go very red!

For best results repeat daily and if you can get some Movelat relief cream (Boots) and apply as instructions.

ps - you need to keep ice pack on for 30 mins to get best results.

Hope you feel better soon, well done with dressage

pps - dont be tempted to use a cold /ice pack as it will not stay cold enough for long enough to do much good.

well done on the comp. i always go competing on my own- its so good when you can be self reliant! gets easier every time as you get into a proper routine.

RE. the back- as above get it iced. and have a bath. and get to a chiropractor. i couldn't live without mine
