At what age can you tell what their coat is going to be like?

Boo is now 10 weeks old - her coat feels coarse but is not long.
She has a very wirey tail and looks like she has eyebrows - but apart from that I'm not sure.

Her mum is rough coated - I was hoping she would be too.

She was born with wavy fur! But it went straight within a few days.

She is mainly white with a black and tan patch around her left eye - the patch seems coarser than her white body.

I know it takes a while to tell but about how long? Should she be rough coated by now?

I love her any way - but a rough coat would have been a bonus

sounds like she'll go wirery (rough coat)!
ive had 3 jrt pups and two were coarse and one smooth, from what u descibe she wont be smooth, my smooth coated was sooo soft to feel and didnt have a hair out of place, the other two felt slightly rough (with eyebrows!!!)

Has she got any slightly longer hairs? The odd few that sort of whisp away from the rest of her coat? That's usually a good indicator that she'll have a coat.

It's not as easy as you'd think though, I've had a couple in litters that have had coats like you've described and they've stayed smooth

few pics, black and tan is roughish (had a hair cut shortly b4 this was taken, note the beard!)
puppy pic was him at about 12 weeks, he was still quite smooth,
and white and tan is smooth coated!

No experience with JRT coats, but with GSDs you can usually be pretty sure if the coat is going to be long or normal by 10 weeks so if parts of her coat are looking wirey I would think she would maybe be more rough than smooth.

She has a few longer hairs on her chest and back legs.
The hair above her eyes and on her forehead are very coarse and ever so slightly longer than the rest of her coat

Will get some more tomorrow - she changes everyday.

She is now getting spots on her back, ears and legs - some are black and some are tan

She is the ugliset, strangest JRT I have have seen - but she is so much fun and Moss my BC loves her.
