I posted about a week ago after my little dog was attacked by a rottie.
After the initial trip to the vets she came home with a few staples in her shoulder, but during the week it became apparent that something was not right so i took her back.
Yesterday she had surgery to stabilise a fracture to her scapula, where the trapezius muscle joins. It was a fracture that baffled the vets as despite numerous x rays - they couldnt find it at first, but were sure it was fractured. The vet only found it when he got her on her back and put her front legs into a 'superman' position for the x ray :-(
Anyway, to cut a long story short she is now on doggy 'box rest' for initially 12 weeks and is in a velpeau sling for the next 4. Has anyone any experience of this and can offer any advice?
She has kept me awake all night crying, although im sure this is due to the frustration of the sling and the buster collar. She has to wear this when she is alone as if she chews the sling, she will de-stabilise the fracture - a no win situation! I'm just wondering if there are any alternatives to the plastic buster collar....... I'd ring the vet but I dont think they would appreciate a phone call at this time in the morning, so i thought i'd ask on here first!
Thanks
