I'm after the hive minds advice. My pony who is 24 had colic like symptoms at the end of March. I had the vet out etc and they thought it was more colitis. This was based on a wet poo the vet saw him do. We tried tubing him but he got to stressed and it didn't go very well. He was walked every 2 hours and fed mash with "bio Sponge" which turned out to be clay. Very random. Any way he made a full recovery. However since then, on and off hes had a stage of juicy poo's. They are fully formed poos but when he does there is a lot of juice thats come out with it. Ive had him on gut stuff for these stages and it clears up. However he's at the juicy stage again and te gut supplement hasn't helped. Any ideas ?

My vet says this is where the gut is inflamed. I find mine get it not at all in summer when they are at grass, but it returns if they are switched to dried hay. I make the transition slowly to minimise the condition.

I know it is faecal water syndrome. There are many threads on it on here, of you search that term.

The vet didnt mention this last time. Mine have been on a pretty sparse paddock for most of the summer as no rain and recently been on some tall very dry grass. They are supplement with haylage

I've known a few who have reacted to haylage like this. As I said, if you search faecal water in the search bar you should get lots of info.

I had him blood tested to make sure he has nothing else going on. Turns out his red blood cell count was low which isn't connected to his rear end. I've bought him some gut sponge, two doses and his butt is normal again. Will keep him on it a week and then see again what's going on and if its help at all

I had this with a 28 year old, adding more fibre to her diet really seemed to help. If it persists it might be worth asking your vet for advice.
