Guys I have just remembered I entered Ed and I into OTECC on the 7th Nov. I remember someone mentioning that the course was tight and we really need help in this area!

He is a hunter born and bred so when he jumps he really attacks it but this is no good for a tight showjumping course! How can I encourage his canter to shorten and be more bouncy and for him to spend less time in the air over jumps?

Any thoughts or tips appreciated, Im not entering to win (

With help i would do some grid work over jumps and maybe some bounces this will teach him to pick up quickly and not allow him to get too long in his stride.

Also when schooling him work on small circles in canter my 18hh can canter smaller than 10m so you really can get small if they shift there weight onto the hocks.

gridwork, lots of canter poles, set two poles up (or little x poles) and see how many/how few strides you can get between them (I like this one because we are good at it!

canter poles before after and between jumps, the after can make them look down and hence put down a bit quicker.

I'm going with the gorgeous new warmblood from my yard who is cracking but I can see him being beautiful while Ed jumps everything a foot too high and skids round the corners like a mad motorcyclist!

Thanks BFG will use those tips
