I'm working in Milton Keynes for a few weeks or so and given the distance from home, I thought I'd stay down there one night a week.

To make things much more interesting (and to get me out of the office at a reasonable hour lol), I thought I'd try and find a good, kind and patient instructor who has a good, kind and patient horse who would be happy to teach me the jumping basics again. I used to jump (high and fast and all that stuff), but that was a long time ago (and quite possibly in another body), hence needing the patient bit :D

hi!

i have no idea whether she has or knows of a suitable horse, or her reputation, but I'm told Jo Burchell at the Milton Keynes event centre teaches all levels, and its nice facilities too!

There is a riding school in Milton Keynes, Laughton Manor, not sure what it is like but is BHS approved. A bit further away (25 mins max from CMK)there is Bury Farm at Slapton, they have a RS there as well as it being a comp centre, Ernest Dillon is now based there so I guess you could have lessons with him on one of their school horses. 40 mins in the other direction would take you up to Nigel taylor at Ason Le Walls - don't know if he has horses you can have lessons on but we travel an hour and a half (we are south of MK) to go to him as he is a brilliant! Also - Sabrina Jones in Mursley - again, I don't know if she has horses to teach you on but she is very good.

I would say that Bury Farm would be your best bet for round here, they have an established riding school and some nice school horses.

There are a few independant instructors, but i'm not sure whether they would have a horse that you could ride.

Oh thank you very kindly folks :)

I will contact all and see what they say - they may run screaming for the hills at the sight of me lol.

Having had a typical drive in this morning (first junction someone 'didn't see me' - I drive a Disco for gawd's sake!; someone else came round the bend on my side of the road - luckily both the car and I breathed in and squeezed through; someone's exhaust dropped off and was in the middle lane of the northbound M1, so I rang the police to retireve it; various people obviously hadn't had enough sleep last night and were all over the place; there were the usual hold-ups; then a rolling road block due to 'animals on the road', though I didn't see what animals). I just love my journey into work lol. It would be good to have a nice evening's riding, a chilled wake up in an hotel, then a gentle couple of miles stroll into the office :D.
