Hi

Can anyone recommend a good jump instructor in the herts area ?
Would like John adams but think he only does clinics!

thanks!

Do you just want jumping? the guys at my yard use Jonathon Chapman, he's an event rider, but is teaching my friend on her SJ-er ATM.

They also go to Stuart Reeve Young Clinics at Patchetts which are really good

I actually want to do BE with my boy so a eventing geared trainer would be perfect!
Would he come out for just one lesson or does there need to be a few wanting lessons? do you know how much he is?

Thank you!

Hi, I don't know what area of herts you are, but I'm from around Tring. I have jump lessons from Angela Ridger. She has been FANTASTIC with me and my pony. He has gone from very green happy hacker to jumping 3ft6 and on all PC teams in just a year and a half!! I find she's really good with younger horses or those with a few 'issues' lol Although she doesn't currently have her own yard to teach from which is a problem if you don't have access to a surface or whatever.
I have also had a couple of lessons from Bella Tschaikowsky who is very good too. She is based in Marsworth just outside Tring, and has surface and course of showjumps outdoors in the summer, and also a few xc jumps.
Hope this helps :) x

I'm after a nice jumping instructor with a yard with decent jumps, as my mare has started ducking out at jumps, very cheeky. Really after someone who will give me confidence than doesn't mind naughty cobs who does actually like to jump when it suits her!! I'm at a yard in Old Welwyn, Herts but will need to travel as only able to jump in the tiny sand school there. A few recommendations please as I'm new to the area...

You could join one of the local riding clubs as they do jumping clinics (with the fabulous John Adams!) so as long as you don't mind travelling. Holly Hill RC does sj clinics over Welham Green way once a month - it's less than half an hour away although they tend to stop over the summer holidays.

My friend also teaches in her own school not far from you - I can pm you details if you are interested. Might be hacking distance depending on whereabouts in Old Welwyn you are.

I had looked at a few of the RC's in the area but had no idea which would be best to join but thanks for that, I had looked at Holly Hill as they were recommended for something else.

I keep my horse at Linces Farm, so let me know details of the instructor as I would be interested and it may be the same instructor that a friend had mentioned as they were going to hack over.

I've heard of John Adams and seen that he has regular clinics, always good to have a personal recommendation as I'd nearly gone to a Nick Turner clinic and he cancelled (thankfully looking at previous messages!!).

xx

I wouldn't diss Nick until you have tried him and made up your own mind. He did wonders for my old horse but not so much for my current horse. He is very good for horses that need telling, not so good on the sensitive ones but that does not make him bad.
If you join the Stevenage riding club then you will get lots of info on the JA clinics and little bits and bobs.

Have sent you a pm - phone number of my friend. I can also recommend Petros Spiliopolous - comes from Harpenden but teaches lots of people round Welwyn way. He advertises in Chiltern Rider magazine.
