Ok so I have a budget of around £1200 for a new saddle I'm planning on getting an albion k2 as it does fit my legs in (i'll need a 18 inch) plus it will give me a bit of extra support when my horse decides to be a knob !

I currently ride in a stubben siegfried cs which I love but feel sometimes I could do with a bit more support plus if i got a new stubben the tree can't be adjusted so not keen on.

I would also be prepared to buy second hand if it men't getting a better saddle for my budget.

Anyway basically I would like to know your recomondations and what you rate.

Thanks in advance.

Cool, My mare does not like sue carson saddles I brought a second hand dressage saddle once went and got sue to fit it her back went straight up every time I got on ! Butet look nice but don't know weather they look like they off loads of support. Thanks for your reply x

I'm selling my Albion K2 as I find it a bit hard and would like something thats a bit more close contact and suit my horse a bit more as it isn't quite sitting right. Good saddle though, really supported me at a few, ahem, sticky moments ;) Probably going to get an Antares :D

I have sat in an Albion K2 and its one of the few that fit my legs it just didn't fit my horse at the time, he wouldn't strike of right lead in canter in it!

I currently have an ideal impala pro monoflap which I totally love and its so secure and fits my legs in :)

I also have a John Whitaker passion for my mare but now doesn't fit and my legs are too long for it so its not secure for me.

I'm also looking for a 2nd jump saddle for her but need to get rid of the passion! Im looking for an Albion or prestige to tide us over until she changes again!

Having read lots of reviews I don't think you can go wrong with a k2!

Hi kirsty I too struggle to fit in saddles have you ridden in a prestige before i've sat in a gold star once but my knees poked over the top!!

I think I rode in a Paris d? It was an 18" I just fit but I had my stirrups longer than I would for jumping or XC etc so I would need to try one out for that although it was super comfy!

The ideal I have is really good for long legs and I actually have the 17.5" and they fit a wide variety of horses I heard.

The huge knee rolls attract me to the k2 but I don't know whether its a close contact as I'm used to

Have u thought about an amnion kontact ? I have long things and this suits me. I have a wow cx saddle currently gathering dust ...

A is the same in the 18" prestige but they fit the horses so well that he's got used to it!

It was extremely comfy! I would like to try a k2 on Abbie or a prestige, it's difficult having 1 saddle for both horses :(

Are prestiges adjustable? I heard they have the heat able tree like JW as this would be better for Abbie

I love Black Country Ricochet!, and for £1200 you would get a made to measure one to fit to exactly. That's what I have , best saddle I've ever had. I had to get 18" seat with 1.5" further forward cut to accomadate my long legs.

I have a stubben roxane with HUGE block, comfy and keeps you in a good secure porition but doesnt fit my youngster now so selling it, plus the tree is too curved for her as she is flat backed! I have fitter out and ended up with an Equipe Expression, totally love it! ver comfortable and secure, smaller blocks than the stubben but i still feel secure in it :) ive also got a whitaker which is my other mares saddle, she is on loan to a dressage home so im not using that at the moment but really love it and will keep hold as you can ge the width altered by JW so could fit if i get another horse :)

I have a style close contact saddle which I absolute love. It's not flash but does the job and certainly improved my balance etc and didn't break the bank. Love it as I previously had a k2 Jump which in fairness did its job.

Butet.. love love love mine! Unfortunately having to sell as its just does not fit my ponio but i would keep it if i could afford to!

Butet's are wonderful to ride in. I personally have a style close contact which does the job nicely and is very flat seated with no interfering blocks and squidgy bits. For me the flatter the seat and the plainer the flaps the better. I also quite like riding in some of the devocoux jump saddles, jaguar single-flap xc saddle and Cliff Barnsby jump saddles. I had a black country quantum at one stage and found it desperately uncomfortable.

I don't mind riding in Stubbens for every day riding, but don't think they are flat seated enough for XC riding - although they are very secure for riding babies in.

Albion K2 is not for me - too deep in the seat and blocky - not a proper jump saddle. The Kontrol is nicer, but still not really my cup of tea.

I am very long hip to knee and find that the less blocks the better in terms of me fitting in the saddle. I am 5'10 but have horses that are no bigger than 15.2hh, so they need 17
" saddles, so I certainly do need to squeeze into them when riding short!

Very much like my Bates Momentum but if I was buying again I'd go for a monoflap such as a Devoucoux or Butet. I've ridden in Devoucouxs recently, both jump and dressage and was wowed by their lightness and comfort. I hate saddles with big blocks that hold you in place and would not buy an Albion jumping saddle for this reason.

I have an Excelle Integra which is relatively cheap, mono flap, close contact, very little in the way of blocks and a flat seat. I love it and it has saved my bacon a few times going XC. Before I had an Albion K2, which was ideal for when I had just broken my mare in and needed all the help I could get staying on, but as we jumped bigger it just got in the way. Now I can't stand big blocks and deep seats on a saddle I have to jump in.

I wanted the Barnsby Xtreme but I just couldn't afford it. I'm 6ft so I need plenty of room my saddle for legs, but I find I swim in 18" saddles, so all of mine are 17.5"

Another one who HATES blocks and deep seated saddles. They actually make you less secure as you rely on the knee rolls.

I have an equipe which I love, and compares very much with the devoucoux/butet/antares saddles I have ridden in. I am hankering after the carbon tree'd version, but the cost is proibitive!! Also like Barnsby close contacts (had an xtreme I loved) Butet's, Antares etc :)

I have just got my new Devoucoux I'm so excited :D My birthday and Christmas presents for the next bazillion years though! It's a Biarritz so does have little blocks, but even my extra-long thighs fit into, although I have the 18" seat :o (my ass isn't that big, honest!). The Oldarra that my instructor has is LOVELY, but I have a dodgy lower leg and need the help of the blocks :(

I used to have an Antares, but it was more of a GP and I used to ride on the flat with it, but it would shoot my legs forward, I think they are known for being a bit of a chair seat. Pretty flat seat, which I need with mine though.

I had my worst fall jumping in a deep saddle - I also used to call it the eject-o-saddle as soon as the horse put in a decent jump, it'd wallop me in the ass and off I'd fly!!

i have a Prestige Meredith D i love it !! but i am short and can fit in a 16.5!!

I would say go for the butet - they are actually made larger so ladies which are normally in an 18inch get in a 17.5inch butet - makes them feel better about themself !!! well so i have been told x
