LOL, what a surprise! I think the North West must have the shameful award for having some of the worst horse people in the country.

I find it ridiculous and disgusting to use such a 'training aid' on a horse whilst jumping, poor thing.
However i also find that comment about the north west ridiculous and disgusting and take great offense at it. There are good and bad horse people all over the country (and world) and i don't know where the belief that the north west is particularly worse than anywhere else comes from.
"take great offense" as much as you like but I know I've seen all this crap that seems to shock people plenty of times before. We have more than our fair share of numpties with horses in the North West and I think you must be blind if you haven't noticed.

But also some of the best. When I was looking for a BSJA coach I was amazined to see how many there are in NW. To be fair, I haven't noticed horse people being worse in NW than any other part of the country, none of the major neglect cases anyway.
OK, I'm not saying the NW has all the knobheads, or that there aren't plenty of great horsepeople here, just that I think we've sadly got more and worse knobheads than most other places. Maybe I'm wrong but there's no need to get so touchy about it.
There is need when you make such sweeping statements Flame. Where abouts in Manchester are you? (pm if prefer) because some areas have more stupid horse people than others i agree, but not the whole north west. Where i live there are about 10 livery yards in a ten mile radius and they are filled with complete fools. However, there are other areas with lots of lovely livery (or riding school) yards and very good reputations.
