How long until you are totally happy after a horse injury would you even consider jumping?

Just interested really, I now patience is a virtue.

The fitness needs to be established and built up slowly.
Weeks of walking slowly introducing trot and canter.
I just wondered when is the right time as however long I leave it i am going to be worried!

depends entirely on the injury and the feedback from vet, chiro, physio, other related professional etc. I'd start flatwork when advised at the level and time period advised and then have the relevant professional back for a review before moving on to longer sessions and/or harder flatwork and again before jumping if it was a serious injury or one that had a high chance of recurrence. With a straightforward injury I'd get a timescale off the relevant professional and with no complications just slowly work onwards and upwards :). I don't think there is a definitive answer unfortunately as each type of injury is different and even within a type of injury each horse recovers at different rates. ETA sorry if thats not hugely helpful!

Vet doesnt want to see him for 4 to 6 months after last x ray and scan.
he said basically get on with it, unless lame and or swollen / heat.

Just wondered roughly when people have felt ready to introduce small fences and building it up to what they were jumping previously.
