I find that at competition my horse totally calms down at listens a lot better then he does at home? At home he is pretty wizzy, even though i hardly ever jump at home... Even though i can go to a competition without jumping for ages and he is great!..

I ride a nutter of a new forest pony, and at home she wiggles and rushes and tries to bolt at every jump, and at shows if I do a practice jump in the warm up area she's still as mad and we have a mad round aswell, but if I just give her a little trot and canter around to warm up she gives me an absolutely lovely round! doesn't pull or anything, and if we get into it, she's an absolute star inthe jump off aswell! I think she's an absolutely lovely pony and her madness a home just adds to her larger than life character :) I've only been ridin her a few years and she taught me how to jump, so I've always been used to her behaviour I think, and she's always looked after me 100% of the time! :) x

now mine has got over her stage fright at shows she's so much better. At home she knows where we're jumping where as at a show she listens alot more as she's more reliant on me. It's made jumping so much easier
