Jumping Crit from tonight please :)

I really didnt think anyone was going to jump the jump at first! from what i could see it looked pretty good, pony has nice technique but maybe try and think about pushing your bum backwards instead of so upwards if you can understand that, i think you are over folding abit (i do the same) my instructor tells me to just put my hands forwards and my body will follow enough instead of 'flinging' myself over the jumps.

Hi NatandShelley_x

Not easy to see on quick flash, but while you both look great, maybe if you shorten stirrups a little, + don't take off before horse, i'd feel a bit happier (they're not all as nice as your lady!)

If you're asking for criticism of your lady, only thing i would say (not easy from a quick glimpse), is that she's lovely, but forelegs don't snatch up as quick as they could, which could be down to approaching fence too fast.

You look like you have great partnership, + it's well nigh impossible to comment properly from a 2-second YouTube showing over a single fence!

Sticking my neck out here, i'd shorten your stirrups 3 holes, sit up, ride your turns carefully, use turn to balance her + look at the next fence, then sit + wait, + let the fence come, keeping that same balance + rhythm.

It's much more difficult to ride a course, but remember the above, + always remember to keep looking at the next fence after the one you are jumping! Good luck, friend, from what is on vid, you look very competent, BS xx

Thanks BS, I will try and get a video of us jumping a course and I would agree with you about putting my stirrups up a couple of holes (I do generally feel much more comfortable with long stirrups and much more secure but if it will improve our jumping then Ill give it ago!)

Thanks for the lovely comments about Shell, Im really pleased with our progress (She wouldn't go near a trotting pole last christmas!)

Well, it's often best way to judge, when we look back, then we see how far we've come. You've achieved loads, + that's great! You're both jumping happily + confidently, + that's down to you!

To move on further, while our position over the fence is important, the approach to the fence is even more vital, expecially when fences get bigger, which you + your lady are well capable of.

You've not said if you have a trainer, but a good trainer will soon sort out any problems you have.

I can confidently recommend BHS/BE/BSJA trainers for the horse side. On taking-video side, strongly recommend some form of training for whoever did it!!! (Like - please can we see approach next time?) (Said in light-hearted way! And with a big thank you to a non-horsey person for giving time + commitment x)

With my best wishes, BS x
