My Ex Racer is enjoying jumping but I need some excercises to get her to pick her feet up, she is happily popping but often dangles a leg or catches a pole, she had 3 poles today schooling at home, kids put them back up then I rode each fence and did my 6 fence course clear! The were all between 80 and 90cm.

So need excercises to get her to tuck up!

Thanks

Does she usually hit them in front or behind?

Anyway grids using bounces will help her. Also you may want to try using some v poles either in a grid or for single fence that really makes them pick up but start with them quite wide and bring them in so as not to frighten her.

All the usual things as well make sure you have a good bouncy canter and that it is not flat and on the forehand.

Have been working on my canter in my dressage lessons, definitely improving. She takes them front and behind!

Will try and book a gridwork lesson for next week, tis too difficult with no one on the ground! But the V poles is a good one, not thought about that.

Thank you

V poles work well as SJ has said, also grids with shorter distances to get her in deep and encourage her to bascule. Does she jump a bit flat? In your sig she looks fab

The previous couple of times I've had her out we just had a pole, my fault for letting her get flat, but we've not been out SJ for a few weeks, other stuff on, or she had hurt herself!!, so went out Wed eve and I put having a few poles down to giddiness, she was very excited. But today, definitely not flat, we get a nice canter inbetween the fences and she really listens to my leg.

Will definitely do some gridwork before we go out again, just worry about her lil skinny leggies whacking poles!!

defo work wi your grids and bounces. No need to work with a great height, in the bounce i work my open horse over poles that are on-top of cones on their sides. 3 walks in-between 3 jumps....

gynmastics are great for them, bounce will help to keep them supple through their back- and tune them up in front.

working with your bounces, 1 strides and 2 strides are the best.
