I haven't jumped at home since we moved yards and our school is fairly small, there is also an outdoor that we have access to but isn't easy getting to on Andy as we have to hack there.

The surface is good and its a fair width but it's very short. All I can think of at the mo is a jump either side of the school and work on my turns by jumping of a 20m circle and gradually decreasing the size. Or a jump in the middle and practice changing his leg over the fence.

Any other suggestion greatly welcomed as I don't want him getting bored. I'm desperate to do some grids on him so might have to hire out an arena soon or do some in my lesson. :p

My instructor once put four fences on a 20m circle in the middle of the school (B and E plus the other two on the centre line). It was a very interesting exercise because the fences came quite fast (like a grid) but it added an extra accuracy challenge (my mare tried to scoot around the outside of the fences on the centre line).

Similar layout to Faracat but put 4 jumps in the centre of the school in a cross, ie, 2 side by side on B to E and 2 side by side on A to C with all 4 meeting in the middle at X.

You can do a lot with this. jump one and turn left or right and go round to the next but one or go back on yourself etc. In fact you can jump a whole course with just these 4. Great exercise for turning and changing legs.

Thanks for the ideas everyone will keep them in mind for next time. :)

We built a corner fence which at first we made wide and jumped the point of it, then we made it more difficult by jumping the point but the opposite way so no jumps feeding us in. We then pushed them together and jumped like a normal corner, Andy is the only horse I know that tried to jump the wider part of it!

The small space definitely proved challenging especially as he was in his snaffle and I had no control but we both had fun and that's the main thing. :)
