I went to the Candover Valley ride yesterday. I had a really good time.....we've got our mojo back! We had a few stops at the beginning since I have lost my confidence after our fall (suprisingly, if i sit like a lemon she stops!). Once I pulled myself together we were great!

For those who have done the ride, we did the bullfinch and we also did the HUGE log-on-wheels thingy (if anyone knows how big that is I'd like to know since it is one of the biggest jumps we've done).

Anyhoo, the only problem is that now she is confident over little jumps......she doesn't bloody listen

She runs flat pays no attention and takes off when she likes. She kinda just flobs over them.

Our photo: maximum effort......NOT!

Any ideas how to get her jumping with style over the little ones?

Oh dear... still glad you had a good day!

Not much to advise - but at least she actually takes off, I used to ride an ex-police horse and if the (show) jumps were too low he just ambled straight through them

i wouldn't be too bothered about her jumping with style over little fences- my boy never does and he has won 3 x PNs!!

it looks likee the photographer caught her a bit late anyway- she may have looked very stylish half a second before!

Ha! It's funny isn't it how our 'problems' change over time and experience.

I am sure at first you had confident issues or whatever and now it's like, you cannot hold her as she just wants to steam up to them all too confident!

Thing is, she does find them small now so because of this she will just 'run' over them. You may need them bigger to get her to think about it a bit more! Goodluck and well done.x

You just have to keep jumping the biggies and forget the little stuff. Lots of horses don't respect fences they consider beneath them and either jump like three legged donkeys or go through them. It is common with riding school horses, they don't come alive until it is a challenge!

Either that or try riding a more collected bouncy canter on the way in and make her wait to take off.

The photographer didn't catch you properly over that fence - half a second earlier and it would have been a much better picture

My pony doesn't bother with little fences - he likes a challenge! TBH i don't worry about it, he gets me safely from one side of the fence to the other, who cares if it doesn't look that pretty?

I cant see pic tillI get home but Im sure its a good one
and dont worry as long as she gets over it who cares about style lol.. Glad you had a fab time though and Zoom was good as always!!

I will expect a full report soon. You and Zoomy do just fine. Strangely enough, its not the falls that damage confidence but repeating them in our minds time and time again ,later.
