Never done one of these before!
Just been looking through my pics & realised when I jump I nearly always collapse my right rib case (as if to fall in on that side) I kind of kink!
Now I have broken the ribs down that side many times so do you think it could be my sub conciouse (spl) trying to protect them??
More importantly what can I do to try & stay tall n straight??

I think that everyone has their own certain "style" and to overcome this with a view to adopting a copybook position is not easy. I'd suggest doing gridwork initially then jumping a smallish (say, 3') course on a schoolmaster who is particularly rhythmic which should give the feel of a proper jump without needing to worry about more than guiding the horse round. Should leave you time to concentrate on folding from the waist or, as I always find easier, think instead of sliding your seat back slightly as the horse takes off. If your stirrups are an appropriate length for jumping as yours seem to be in the photos then you can concentrate on balance through your shoulders.

The photos are super but does your horse run a little deep to his fences? This may also make it difficult for you to maintain a correct position if the flow in front of the fence and on takeoff is not there.

I think you need to work on your right shoulder because if you think about lifting that up then your right side should be lifted. In all your photos your right shoulder has dropped which will then collapse your right side.
Maybe think about really exaggerating your shoulders in lifting your right and dropping the left as this should even you out.

being conscious of it should help to improve it, but looking at the pics i would also suggest that you maybe concentrate on putting more weight down your right leg as this should help witth straightness aswell

Cheers for the replys & friendly ones at that!

Just realised although I am doing it in the last pic (with link) I am trying to lock him onto a 90degree turn to another fence & do it in sequnce rather than looping (which we did manage for first time!)

Yes measles he does get deep & there is not alot I can do to change that in him. I think that is why is head also seems to be so low when jumping too. I think that is why my lower leg can also swing back as he is so powerful in his jump & throws me out of balance.

Lec; thinking about I ruptured my right shoulder joint a few years ago (was last legal day hunting) so this could also be a factor?? It is now naturally slightly lower than my left. I have been to my fellow sports injury collegue who is happy with it down but I have 1 leg slightly shorter then the other (ie I am tight through my left hip) & am doing stretches with it to even myself up!
lpp it wasn't till I was looking through Nicks photos that I realised about it! But I do try harder since noticing it but he hasn't shown me any more pics recently!

Many thanks shall try all advice & will report back!
