Thought I would let you know what i've been up to lately with Red! Basically he had a quiet Autumn/Winter due to a break after the eventing season finished and then injury.

He has now been back jumping for around a month maybe a bit more, also he used to jump in a gag (on the 2nd ring) but in my first jumping session back he was very strong and my instructor (a tall bloke i.e. stronger than me) rode him and said he could barely hold him so he didn't know how I managed! Anyway we put him in a happy mouth pelham with two reins which he is better in.

He makes a much nicer shape over a fence in this bit, really bascules and over a bigger fence (1m+) he stays in the air longer and feels fab! BUT he is still strong...so today I gave him a syringe of 'Instant Magic' before we jumped (he is already on Magic everyday anyway) however there was no difference

I am going to try the Equine America Super-Kalm syringe and then Oxyshot but if none of these work then I am at a bit of a loss so any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I like the fact that he is forwards to a fence and really enjoys it and can cope with him when working over poles, through grids and over single fences but I struggle when we try to put a course together as he tends to land running after a fence and takes a few strides to bring back and turn for the next fence which just seems to come up too fast and the round gets messier and messier as we go on!!

Anyway here are the photos form our two schooling sessions this last week, CC welcome on me please:

Thanks for reading...I feel like I should offer some Pimms as the sun has been shining for the last few days...bring on summer!

try poles before and infront of a fence to get him to lower his head and neck and look down at what he is diong? or circling infront of the fence if he starts to run.

wow fab clip, and u have a really good leg position while jumping lol

i use nupafeed magnesium syringes on my horse...they r really good as they do something (not really sure what lol) to do with stopping adrenalin release...and you give them one syringe 3 hours before competing (or the night before if u cant do this) and then 1 hour before u compete

they really work for my horse who gets really excited/stressed in the horsebox and when warming up
