Right well it seems that saddle manufactures don’t believe that people with cobs jump! So just interested to know what jumping saddles people with wider horses use?

I’m currently using an Ideal Event, but technically this is a GP, and I want something specifically for jumping, now that we are starting to jump bigger jumps. Should also add that I have quite a large backside (and before anyone mentions it, no I can’t afford lipo!), and Bodey is 15hh (see my sig).

So any ideas?

Just to note whatever I get will be fitted by my professional master saddler, before anyone asks!

I'll be interested in the rplys as I am in the same postiion. I have just tried an Ideal International Hunt, nice saddle but flaps are too big.

I have a lovely 18" Barnsby saddle, fits D beautifully. It's not a jumping saddle its GP but they do make jumping saddles as well so I'd definitely look into it for Bodey

Exscelle, my pony isn't a true "cob" type, but she is a wide fit Welsh X, my jump saddle is fab, have a look out for these.

I know my pony is far from a cob BUT she is extra wide

and TBH i find my wintec close contact the best jumping saddle I have ever had on her

It doesn't slip forwards or roll about. If you wanted a leather perhaps a Bates version??

I'd stay with an Ideal Saddle, they are so so good for the horse.. The Impala is very popular on here, and some like the Springbok..

Ideal do alot of different saddle designed more for jumping. Barnsby are also fab saddles, but may not suit Bodey. I had an Albion K2 jump saddle on Bob Cob, but he was quite a skinny mini!!

I have an Ideal on G horse, and it is fab, but not sure whether it would suit Bod's....I use Bridlepath saddlery in Bury St Edmunds though, and they have a wide range so maybe worth a try?!

i just got and albion jumping for my wide (CBx track) neddy. i never thought it would be that hard to find one till i got her, but then my other horse is narrow so choice never a problem

I have a Wintec close contact on my very wide mare, its lovely and really helps jumping. It has the white extra wide gullet in it. The Wintec GP with the same gullet went no where near to fitting the fat bat, so don't say no to the wintec with out trying it.

I have my maxi cob in an Albion K2 VSD and love the saddle and do everything in it including big jumps and hunting and stuff and find it really comfortable, I think he does to bless him.
