Jumping saddles

Hiya new to this game
Looking into buying a new jumping saddle hopefully to help my position and be more comfy than my old saddle. Any ideas Stubben , Harry Dabbs Albion. I am 5"4 and want some support. I have looked at a Stubben MS special and it is a size 30, anyone understand Stubben sizing.

Personally I would get a good saddle fitter out, with lots of stock and try your horse in as many as you can....
Every rider is different and every saddle feels different on every horse!! Plus every horse moves different in every saddle!
 
I've had a Pessoa, an Albion, a Barry Swain & a WOW & the WOW is the best by a long shot. I never have to think about my position cos the saddle does it for me. I also feel very secure in it.

I never thought I'd find anything I liked as much as the Barry Swain, but the WOW is far, far better.
 
Cheers for all the help trying to find a good saddle fitter is the best option but not the easiest. Not many in Scotland who do a range of saddles.
 
hi there. if your in scotland, have you tried Stirlingshire Saddlery. Although they are based in the central belt, they regularly come up north, they are usually up for Burgie.

I recently bought a patriot from them and it's the most awesome comfy secure jumping saddle i have ever ridden in. (there are 5 people at my yard with them now ranging from very tall to very short, novice and experienced and we all love them.).

would recommend the suede seat for much stickybumness.

even if your not fancying theirpatriot, they have a huge selection, and their fitters are all excellent, well the ones I have dealt with anyhoo.

Kay Hastilow is good, she does second hand saddles as well as new (not sure what ranges she sells new exactly as my budget wont' stretch to that!

She is based in Fife and will travel, but will cost you depending on distance, so if far away, best to chum up with some friends!
 
definitely try out quite a few... i did this on monday and one stood out as perfect for me and horse, others not so good at all. it's worth the effort of boxing up to go somewhere with a good choice, as you'll have it for years etc hopefully!
fwiw i went for the Ideal Impala, it felt made for me and horse and put me in perfect balance with no effort required.
