So first of all a massive thank you to my lovely, obliging other half who made a few extra conventional straw bales so that me and the other livieries could have a little play while the stubble is around!

And second of all, I love my pony! So this is a group of firsts really. First time I’ve jumped Arlo, I believe it’s the first time Arlo has jumped, the first time I have jumped a ‘solid’ fence and the first time I have even cantered into a fence! He was just divine, for a 4 year old with a few little quirks he is just brilliant, he takes everything in his stride and just goes with flow. I’ve never felt so confident and safe on a horse, despite him being so young and me relatively inexperienced I feel like we’re starting to form a bit of a team and I just feel I can utterly rely on him, which I haven’t had that feeling from a horse in a long time.

I really want to get him out for a little play on a small local xc course before I turn him away this winter so I thought a little pop over the bales would be a good test run just to see what he made of it all.

Super excited for the future with this little lad, feel like I finally have a horse I can take out and about and have some real fun on!

Thanks for reading. Of course a few token pictures and a video of the Mr Arlo.

Aw well done! My 4yo cob has also given me the world of confidence. he has a LOVELY kind face too. And looks really confident and a cool dude in the video. Exactly my type!

I saw the video on the Welsh D group and commented to my OH that most 4yos wouldn't do that so calmly and canter away so nicely first time! He's cracking :).

Thank you! He really is a sweetheart. First time jumping, out on stubble, next to horses, over something solid - probably not the best idea, but it just felt right. I also did it a few more times just to check it wasn’t a fluke!! Lol but he remained very calm and popped them nicely each time. One of the times he caught the bale and nearly flipped it but he didn’t panic at all and just cantered away nicely which I was really impressed with. X

Arlo is lovely, such a sweet faced boy! And that feeling of total trust is utterly priceless, I've not been riding long but I found it and value it above everything. The video is fab, you and he make a great team:)

Thank you for your lovely comment. He’s been such a worried boy, it’s quite an honour to feel like despite his nerves he is starting to really trust me. Love him to bits.

Lovely! Sadly we only get quadrants baled here and I’m sure as hell never jumping one of those

Haha that’s why is asked for a few extra conventionals as other half doesn’t normally do them so took my chance!

Loved the video, from the look on his face approaching I thought he was going to put in one of those monster jumps but he didn't! What a star.

I know! I did wonder what he would do, but he just popped them so nicely, he really is just a pleasure to work with - he always surprises me!

What a good boy! I've got cob-envy, and that looks such fun! :)

Thank you! He’s Welsh D x something cobby we assume as no breeding but he seems to be the perfect mixture of Welshy spark and cob sensibility. Whilst has a bit of a buzz and spark there doesn’t seem to be an overeactive bone in him which is great to work with! :)
