Jumping under floodlights

As a teeanager I was always told not to jump on winter evenings because the shadows of the floodlights on the poles make it much harder for the horse to judge the height of the jump. Is this true?

Agree with Boss, we do it at my RS all the time

Horse never got it wrong last week so can't be too drastic

Our lights aren't the best and that means that there are lots of shadows so the majority of us don't jump if we have to have the floodlights on

Make sure you use nice bright poles, not rustics.

I have never had a problem with it. Our lights are OK, and our poles are white/blue.

at the athens olympics the eventers showjumped under floodlights.

Never heard that one. but the other day we had a lesson and the sun came in the door and projected false ground lines for the jumps so Beau was wary or wold just leap and take off about 2 strides ahead!
