Does anyone know how long you should leave a bone spavin once it has fused before it is ok to do any jumping? I'm not talking puissance or anything, just tiny cross poles / uprights to make schooling a bit more interesting. I've been doing flat work and hacking for about 18 months and just wondered if she would be ok if I popped her over the odd jump or two.

Do you know that the joints affected have fused? I presume you had x-rays done?
Anyway, I would say that if your horse looks free enough and sound on the flat and you have done a couple of months of regular flat work with no problems you would be fine. You just have to try a small amount of jumping and see how it goes. Perhaps try this and then observe your horse on the flat over the next couple of days to see if things all look OK. I think it's a question of being sensible and looking/feeling for any changes in movement. I think you will be fine from what you have said.

Should be fine if she's ok on the flat. Our big lad went lame last May, had endless tests / xrays / scans , finally confirmed as bone spavin in October & put on bute + exercise to help fuse the bones, was back jumping small fences end November & now ok up to 3' or so. (3' not a small fence to us!
