Im sorry if this sounds like an extremely stupid question but i have never been on a hunt and know absolutely nothing about them, my friend was asking my to go on a hunt with her this coming season and im really interested in doing it but i was just wondering if there was a way around some/most of the ditches and jumps, my horse is still fairly young and i wouldn't want to over phase him with all these big fences and ditches all at once. I dont mind popping a 2ft6 fence or a smaller ditch but im just worried if all of a sudden i find a huge 4ft fence or 5ft ditch in my path! i think this would be a little much for my boy right now! lol

Thanks in advance :D

I would call the sec and explain your situation. Hunts do newcomers days etc, and many have a second fieldmaster for people not wanting to jump, however I would check with the sec beforehand just to be safe. I hope you have a super day and enjoy yourself. :)

Don't worry, there is always a way round and many choose not to jump so you won't be alone.
Go out, have fun, gain confidence and experience and in time you will probably find yourself popping over something you never thought you would!

There should always be a way round the majority of jumps. The hunts like it if you can pop a fairly size-able fence but there are always children, and people who don't like jumping who follow.

I have never had a problem with not wanting to jump and there's usually somone to lead you round to the gate/other way round :)

I agree with loopy pony there are always people who go the 'easy way round' just go and have fun also start with the autumn hunting as it's always less scary by the opening meet you might be keen to have a go a the bigger stuff . The only thing is I would do some ditch pracise before you out as you might meet a ditch you can't get round.
