I dont post ridden videos on here very often as they always seem to turn into some kind of debate about something or other but i just had to share what we got up to today :)

Well today we went bareback for the first time. i feel more comfortable bareback then i do in a saddle for some reason and i think it reflects in my riding as im not as tense... turns out Rio also prefers bareback! i havent had a saddle for about a month so he hasnt been ridden just lunging and ground work and introducing him to pole work as hes never seen a pole before :o he will follow me over them but he is still unsure of them on his own bless him :o

anyway this is us bareback today (the video quality changes as some is filed on my phone and others on my camera as my camera died)

deleted :o had to log out of my youtube :o (p.s might be worth making it full screen view as its not zoomed in for a lot of it!)

I'm sorry, I just can't see what it is you are trying to achieve? The horse is very nice and has obviously been trained at some stage; but what is your ultimate goal with the horse? Do you have experienced help - I mean someone who knows about Spanish horses? You obviously love the horse, but I cannot see where you are headed with this sort of approach. And what is the the lunging contraption for?

What a beautiful horse.
None of us is perfect, so don't take what I am going to say the wrong way, but you REALLY would benefit from some experienced tuition to help you along a slightly different path to the one you are currently on

Awww he is such a lovely pony :)

I really do think he has got better from your first video a while ago so well done. Defo looks less tense to me.

From this video he is still very tense in his neck and jaw. But does seem better overall. Have you tried taking less of a hold in front? does that help him relax and drop? the spaniards you really have to ride from your seat.

I know what it is like to have an uber tense horse. My spaniard is a remedial PRE and is a very difficult ride as I have said before. He is in a snaffle and cavesson noseband and that is it.

I posted about your other comment on the other thread about the pessoa. I used to use one and Hermoso was ok with it, BUT the thing that works best for him to get him to relax and work long and low is nothing!!!!! no gadgets at all. I just lunge in a head collar and that works best for him.

Are you planning to come to any of the shows this year? would be nice to meet you! that is if we ever get any sunshine!!!!
