Pony went barefoot in December, he was only shod fronts but a bit like another recent post on here my pony hated to be shod and seemed extremely nervouse and would pull away from farrier when nails were being put in. Although my farrier was very patient and I felt pony was getting better with this farrier I decided to try to go barefoot to take away the stress of it all. Anyway all has been good so far he had two checks with the farrier since dec and he didn't touch them as he thought he was doing well and they didn't need trimming.
Today he was due again and I thought he might well trim as the two fronts had very slight flare on the inside of both hooves, but again he said they are doing well so he just took a tiny bit off of the flare and left them alone. I'm really pleased and I'm hoping we can continue like this and not go back to shoes, I've been lucky so far as we've had no soreness so I'm very hopeful and have a much less stressed pony at farrier time. I would post pics but don't know how.
