Why do people buy an aniimal have no idea how to look after it-we are talking not a scooby, take it to a totally diy yard and expect what????Previously only ridden RS ponies then goes gets a 17+ warmblood totally untried and unseen-not even a pic.
Not against learning as you go but go to a yard with staff put it on full livery so at least horses needs are met if nothing else til you learn the ropes.
Now this is their problem I know and is a nice person but the point of post is it annoys me that it really annoys me!!!!
Now hopefully this little moan means I can move on from it and ignore it.................

Totally agree. Yes everybody needs to start somewhere and when I first got my horse I had a lot to learn. But I don't agree when people really have no clue.
Each ot their own, each to their own

Hopefully will have a good outcome. Will try to steer clear of the whole situation tho as not worth getting wound up over.
Only thing is if they ask how do you politely not help???I struggle with this in job too lol!!

I know exactly what you mean! I remember it was not so long ago I asked a certain person what planet were their parents on when they bought them X horse!! And it did go a bit wrong, but they did learn when offered some help - and books!! I actually bough 2 such folk some good stable management books and gave them to them to read, then they came back and asked for help. I always remember them standing in the middle of the horses bed almost in tears as they were at their wits end :(. Parents never really cared..........Just got another horse, then another, then well...........

Any way that a wee PC could be started up on the yard? I am debating coming back next year......haha.......If I can afford it!

Yes this is a mature adult so no parent back up but hey ho baptism of fire.Hopefully horse doesn't suffer in between

WT think other liveries would shoot you if started a PC club there, myself included as never been a lover of them.Plus we want to keep all the nice new facilities for ourselves lol!
Well new place is full and has a waiting list already but old place may have spaces.
New place (and he's thinking new liveries with old place) that you have to have a stable even if your horse winters out.New place there is NO hay going in front fields only back ones down the hill a bit(I think thats where they are)if you want horse out.
I'm going to have 3 in this year am dreading it!!!

HAHA, would have only been for the kids there.

Ekk.............That would be like £400 a month these 3 would cost me! Meh! Are folk at the old yard going to be allowed to use the new indoor school?

I know just what you mean. (Although you were nearly incoherent with the emotion of it!;))
I cannot believe that some people buy a horse and let it walk all over them, then wonder why they can't do anything with it!
I quite agree that we all have to start somewhere but some people think that they are experts after a couple of years at a RS and then either buy a youngster or something notoriously difficult like an ex-racer to keep on diy. They don't even think to buy a book! Then they wonder why it all goes horribly wrong. Sometimes parents are even worse than adults buying for themselves, as they have over-inflated ideas of their little darling's ability!

I also think, gone are the days of taking your RI with you to view a horse and the RI being brutally honest about your ability matched to the horses. Now it seems that some will still buy unsuitable horses on RECOMENDATION of RI's who say that they will "learn how to ride it". Fair enough - that does mean more ££ for the RI, but its not fair on the new owner. And also, when asked opinion on a horse for someone..........does anyone else feel that they have to be VERY careful what they say? I have decided now to be brutally honest! I think in a way it pays to be pesimistic when it comes to ability etc. BUT then, I did loan my horse who me after 10 years of riding couldnt handle, and I loaned it to a girl who had been riding 16 months! She was however game as anything and very skilled with a superb suport network and based at a BE yard.

Well think its the fact that its the other liveries pick up the slack as don't want horse to suffer.Sorry for being incoherent am usually a lot worse in real life lol!
WT no old liveries will not be allowed to hack over to use indoor, asked J this.
We are paying a bit more at new yard and tbh would be nuts trying to accommodate both yards into school as 40 horses in new yard and outdoor school hasn't lights yet so in winter indoor will be used a lot-to do with PP and old yard will still have about approx 34 horses. So would be p'd off if indoor tried to cover both yards.New yard is nice but compact so no room even to stand extra horses round yard I would think.
Yep going to cost over £400 a month plus bedding/hay on top for my lot.Scary when you think about it........
