My daughter's youngster is turned away for the winter. He is in a large field with just one other and they still have plenty of grass and they also have a big round bale of hay to eat. He's not getting any hard feed. Just been to visit him and took his rug off and am really pleased with how well covered he is. The rug is a medium without a neck. His neck is really fluffy! He is 3/4 TB and I'm just so pleased he is doing this well, although I do appreciate that this winter (so far) is nothing like as harsh as it was last year! I visit him every other day and the lady who owns the other horse goes on the alternate days.

Thats good! Atleast the weather isn't as harsh as it was last year.... it's quite mild this year.

"Quite Mild"?! I thought the pony was about to start colicking over christmas due to the amount of sweat... I even got the thermometer and vaseline out to check his temp I was about to insert the thermometer into the unmentionable hole, put my hand under his rug and he was ROASTING!! Poor little poppet was overheating in a medium weight rug! It was 9pm at night and 10C!!!

Luckily his bottom was spared... just in the nick of time too!!
