Just a question......

Something happened today with Bandit (6 day old colt) and I'm not sure if I should worry or not

My sister was scratching him and he seemed to be enjoying it and suddenly he dropped to the floor! Then he just lay there as if he was falling alseep!! My sister jumped back thinking she had killed him! But as I ran over to him to see if he was alright, he jumped up and started suckling as if nothing had happened!

Is it possible my sister put him to sleep or is it something else?

Anyone had any experience of this???

possibly as hes only a baby that he was just relaxed and did fall asleep bless him,just keep a closer eye on him incase he does it on his own then ul know it wasnt the scratching !!

Where were you scratching? The is a vagual area that when scratched send people to sleep, maybe the same as horses. In humans it is located on the side of the neck.

Yes she was scratching him on both sides of his neck at the same time, she did say hw felt a bit heavy just before he fell. It was just so sudden, no slumping or slowly going down - he just went from standing to flat on the floor! I'll keep an eye on him so.
