We brought our new girly home on sunday :-D She stayed in for the day as weather was awful, monday morning we took her over to the school and rode her and she was fine, when we'd finished we turned her out as weather was quite nice. My partner and daughter went to get her in later and she was a bit wary of being caught so had a bit of a charge about in the paddock, over reached and has been slightly lame ever since :-( Not hopping lame, no heat or swelling anywhere. If it is just a strain/sprain how long should it take for her to recover? Should I be getting the vet out now or give her a couple more days?

If, as you seem to be saying, you saw the whole thing it sounds very likely she has torn or damaged a muscle. Sometimes box rest can sort the problem out together with slowly restarting light in-hand work. Depending on the nature of the problem they can fester and become bigger later. What is it you do with the horse? Do you just ride out or do you want to compete her? Also, whatever you do, make sure you keep an eye on other signs of discomfort e.g. when girthing up or significant differences in going e.g. left and right. These can all be signs that although not lame, that your horse has a problem, albeit small for now.

I would get a vet! I thought my gelding had pulled something, after no improvement two vets looked and said it was a sprain! (these two vets were ones I use at uni)
Took him home to see my normal vet and after nerve blocks turns out may be a more serious issue (i posted a thread on here with more info).

Deffo get it looked at! I wish id seen my normal vet sooner as he had three weeks walker work as recommended by the first two vets , which may have made the real problem worse!
