. . . GreyDonkey went out in the field yesterday - for the first time in over 5 weeks. He couldn't believe his luck . . . and I had the biggest smile on my face watching the smile on his. He ran around for about, oh, a minute or two . . . tried to persuade one of his fieldmates to play (the one who doesn't play with him - ever) and then stuck his head down and ate . . . and ate . . . and ate.

I only left him out for about three hours b/c he hasn't had grass for so long and when I went to bring him in he was full, tired and very, very relaxed . . . oh and very, very muddy :).

My yippee-ness was marred by two things . . .

. . . one was a nasty run-in with a fellow livery that left me shaking with anger and driving home in tears (not like me) . . .

. . . and the other was that GD is rather short on his off fore - which is his boxier foot and the one with the most navicular damage/changes. I'm thinking this is probably a result of being stood in for so long (although he's been worked) and hoping that time in the field plus work will see that resolve. The vet is coming back out today to check on his cellulitis so I will mention it to him then . . . fingers crossed it resolves and he comes sound again.

Good to hear GD has been out again :)
Hope the prob in the front is nothing of consequence but worth discussing today with vet as you have come this far.

As to your other prob with field swap - wish you best of luck - I'd approach friend rather than young person.

TFF . . . forgot to update this yesterday (other things on my mind) but when vet came I mentioned the shortness in front and I trotted him up - he's sound! Hurrah! If I have time, I will lunge him tonight - if not, will do it tomorrow and Z is getting on him in the school on Thursday. So it's onwards and upwards . . . phew. He will ALWAYS wear either boots or bandages when in the field or working/hacking . . . I'm not having another skin infection gone mad and he's quite close behind so does knock himself.

Will keep you posted on other developments so we can plan our long overdue hack out together :).
