. . . GreyDonkey went out in the field yesterday - for the first time in over 5 weeks. He couldn't believe his luck . . . and I had the biggest smile on my face watching the smile on his. He ran around for about, oh, a minute or two . . . tried to persuade one of his fieldmates to play (the one who doesn't play with him - ever) and then stuck his head down and ate . . . and ate . . . and ate.
I only left him out for about three hours b/c he hasn't had grass for so long and when I went to bring him in he was full, tired and very, very relaxed . . . oh and very, very muddy
.
My yippee-ness was marred by two things . . .
. . . one was a nasty run-in with a fellow livery that left me shaking with anger and driving home in tears (not like me) . . .
. . . and the other was that GD is rather short on his off fore - which is his boxier foot and the one with the most navicular damage/changes. I'm thinking this is probably a result of being stood in for so long (although he's been worked) and hoping that time in the field plus work will see that resolve. The vet is coming back out today to check on his cellulitis so I will mention it to him then . . . fingers crossed it resolves and he comes sound again.
