It has been 5 months since that fatefull day, when Pat met Catwalk, and I started the infamous thread to 'ask a parelli student'.

I wanted to first thank each and everyone of you for either posting questions, telling me to go to hell, challenging the method, or sending me supportive messages.

I thought I might update you, as some of you had sent me book suggestions, dvd suggestions, invitations to other forums etc, and even become good friends;)

I have since 'come out' of the closet to my parelli friends about my identity and that includes Pat and Linda Parelli. My friends congratulated me and made it easy to 'come clean'. Whew!

I spoke in person with Pat and Linda, and Linda has read the thread, and her response was positive.....Whew! Not that it matters anymore. But she was supportive and thankful, and also surprised I kept my cool.

As for my journey since then, it has been a turbulent one with some high highs, and a few low low's. BUT....I am a better and stronger person because of all of you....and a better horse person too. Some of you challenged my perceptions and offered some different perspectives. I promised you I would look into them, and I have, and still am. I am sharing all of my new discoveries with my friends, and doing my best to challenge thier perceptions as well.

I have made some glorious discoveries in other master horse people, the most influential of all is Carolyn Resnick and her Waterhole Rituals. I am currently reading 3 suggested books, and reviewed about 10 dvd's. I have a long list awaiting me, and my journey is taking a very new path, one that I am very proud of.

If I didn't make it to your place, I wanted to say sorry, I have been a very busy girl!

So I just wanted to say

THANK YOU!

Hi, I also didn't see your thread but nice to hear of your efforts to look at alternative methods. Not a fan of parelli, myself, but credit to you for remaining cool and for being prepared to listen to other points of view.

Thanks for the feedback. I dipped in and out of the old thread, but at times it was a bit noisy, so I chose not to post.

Can I add a book (or three) to your reading list of horse trainers?

The late Henry Blake wrote three books back in the 1970's. Two at least are still in print, but the omnibus edition appears on ebay from time to time for not very much money. Take a look at his writings, as he was clearly a man who was ahead of his time.

I will admit that I avoided the other post as I don't like hornets nests ;)

However, good for you being prepared to defend your beliefs while being open to new ideas; I know a few people who could take a leaf out of your book!

Thanks....i try:o

as for hornets nest....at first it was, but about a third way thru....it got quite nice....;)

thank you...the experiment was to set an example of how it is possible to discuss horsemanship, coming from different backgrounds, without the need for mud slinging. it worked.....yeah!

it was noisy wasn't it?? that whole thing took me almost a month....ee ghads! but as a busy blogger....my fingers were up to the task.....i gained about 15 words per minute on my speed....he he

thanks for the book suggestions, i will certainly add it to my list. I am currently reading,

tao of equus (just started)
whole heart, whole horse (awesome, had some serious epiphanies so far)
dances with horses (only thumbed thru it so far)

my blog is is literally on fire at the moment with the dvd reviews, and book reviews....but it is soooo theraputic:cool:

Lovely to hear from you tongue-in-cheek.I have read Tao of Equus and loved itmyself.Henry Blake is also very good and very funny.Have you left the Parelli group then? Just interested as I have to say, thanks to you, I have looked at the Parellis and the horse world in general, with fresh eyes.

Henry Blake was one of the first to have a book out, very well worth reading. Probably not considered PC now in all respects but he was of his age. He made the very good point that in his early days they were working with brutalised horses, yet in the later years most of them were spoiled by incorrect handling.

I wasn't involved much in your thread but admire your honesty and desire to loose the blame and discuss in a non judgemental way as far as possible.

Interesting you've become interested in Carolyn Resnick's work, she has a huge amount to offer us in terms of our fundamental relationship with our horses imo. Like any Trainer or 'theory' I take what I like and 'fits' for me but some I leave some behind. ;)

I wish you well on your continued journey and thankyou for putting yourself out there so eloquently.:)
