Could I ask for a little guidance please?
I came on here to ask advice about HGV Driver’s Hours but I’m finding it difficult to work out how to post the question in the right place and oddly I have put a recipient’s name on it when I have no idea who? ?‍♂️

I don’t ride, but share the hobby with a Dressage Rider as long as I put them out, get them in , poo pick, provide horse transport and basically carry out all orders to the letter then there’s no arguments ?

I started 5 years ago, have ‘my’ riding school horse and love to think there’s no reason I should be giving up soon
No need to stop. Unless your health fails, which I hope it wont. Like you I started at a RS when I was 61 (after 9/11 terrorism) , like you I had my beloved RS horse, and then a long term share. I have ridden for 22 years now and am on my third regular horse.
It is very odd because I never envisaged riding over the age of 70. I had a set budget to ride for 10 years.

I really enjoy reading your posts Skib and hope very much to follow in your footsteps (or should that be hoofprints ?)

I should perhaps point out that as soon as I started hacking, I wore a body protector as well as a heavy duty hat. I also bought Sprenger stirrups because our RI who worked for RDA told me they were kinder to ones joints.

I also gradually learned how to correct things. I was and still am crooked due to my back deteriorating and I had many lunge lessons from a specialist RI, to improve my balance. I learned from this that, if I am sitting canter round a left bend, I need to keep my right shoulder a distance from my left knee.

I none the less fell off while hacking. I wanted to hack. That was all I wanted. But I guess that unless one really wants to hack, older people should opt for the school.
