... Poor Ron goes and does something to himself.
this is Ron - who is never sick or sorry. until now.
so, after 12 weeks off riding (OH has been keeping the lad ticking over) i had a couple of rides over the weekend, and decide he is fit enough for a riding club lesson if we take it easy.
so i go straight up to parents after work to get him sorted out. poor lad is hopping lame. He was ok last night, and dad says he was fine this morning.
problem is i'm not sure what it is.
he's worse on hard (concrete) ground than on grass.
he's pointing it like lami but its only one foot (not impossible i know)
he's got no heat in any leg/foot
he's got slight swelling just below the knee at the back of the leg.
he's got a slight temperature (like 1.2 degrees over his normal)
he looks utterly miserable
he's been thirsty since he came in (but he was standing the otherside of the field when i caught him up - so if he's sore he might not have walked over to drink)
he's not off his hay.
i daren't give him hard food in case it's lami.
he's 16.2hh and irish draft so not typical lami sort, but not a typical tendon case either.
i don't want to give him bute in case it masks it.
have left him in with hay, and stable bandages and lots of bedding, after 2 lots of cold hosing.
see what the morning brings.....
any ideas anyone?
